Wake up! Google I/O is today, starting with a keynote that should offer up a ton of news and information on what Google is working on currently. The keynote will be held live and streamed globally. Here’s how to watch the Google I/O 2025 keynote.
What to expect from Google I/O 2025
Unlike last year, we aren’t expecting Google to announce another budget Pixel. The Pixel 9a has already been announced, as expected, leaving us with little to expect in the way of hardware.
Expectations on Android announcements have also been tempered, as Google held a pre-recorded Android Show last week. That 20-minute video announced a slew of news, including a good look at Android 16’s Material 3 Expressive and the new Find Hub app that replaced the Find My Device option.
With that out of the way, Google I/O will focus more on the development side of upcoming features and will likely build on some of the news we saw during the Android Show. That includes developments in Chrome, Google Cloud, Google Play, and more. We’ll likely also see a healthy amount of information on future Gemini builds.
It’s also expected that Google will further tease its Android XR glasses. According to a previous report, attendees will be allowed to demo the Android XR glasses that Google has shown off in recent events. The glasses were teased during the Android Show, and it’s expected that they’ll appear once more.
How to watch Google I/O live
The event itself is closed to a private audience in person in Mountain View, CA. However, the keynote will be streamed in a couple of locations, as is the case every year. If Google uses the same method, the Google I/O 2025 keynote will be streamed on both Google’s landing page and YouTube, though the latter is your best bet to watch.
Google I/O will take place on May 20 at 10 a.m. PT (5 p.m. UTC.) Before the event, a countdown will display on stream to let viewers know when the show should begin.
As mentioned, viewers can watch the stream via Google’s website (io.google.com) or through YouTube. On YouTube, Google’s own channel will host the event. Both methods use YouTube to host the live stream, so it really doesn’t matter which you choose to watch on. The stream will be available below, as well.
Hitting the “Notify Me” button will allow YouTube to send a notification when the stream begins.
