The Nubia Focus 2 Ultra is a smartphone with a 6.8 inch, 120 Hz AMOLED display, a Unisoc T760 processor, 8GB of RAM, Android 15 software, and a 5,000 mAh battery.
But what makes this phone noteworthy is its camera system. There’s a ring around the rear camera that you can rotate to adjust the zoom level or aperture.
The phone has three cameras including a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.55″ image sensor in the middle and two additional cameras (possibly ultrawide and zoom).
Nubia says the phone supports 13mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 72mm focal lengths, and you can rotate the dial to adjust zoom level or aperture settings without fiddling with touchscreen controls.
After going hands-on with the phone at Mobile World Congress, Pocket Lint reports that while the rotating ring “might evoke more expensive camera equipment,” it doesn’t make the phone noticeably thicker than a typical flagship phone with a modest camera bump, while The Verge reports that the dial is “surprisingly easy to rotate with one finger while holding the phone in portrait” orientation.
Since the camera is the main, umm… focus of this phone Nubia also put a dedicated camera shutter button on the side of the device, and the company also plans to offer a dedicated camera grip accessory.
Another noteworthy thing about this phone? It’s not a flagship device – Nubia’s parent company ZTE says it’ll sell for 299 Euros (about $320) and up when it goes on sale later this year.
