Where is the Monster Hunter Wilds Gravid Bowfin? Fishing is an exercise in patience in MH Wilds, and no other fish proves it quite like the Gravid Bowfin. While this aquatic life species is purported to spawn throughout the Forbidden Lands, it’s remarkably elusive.
What’s more, reaching the Gravid Bowfin location in Monster Hunter Wilds is just the first step on your fishing excursion; you also have to create the right conditions to catch it. We can help you do both so that you can cross off one of the many MH Wilds quests on your list and reap the rewards. Here’s how to find and catch a Gravid Bowfin.
Where to find the MH Wilds Gravid Bowfin
The best place to find Gravid Bowfin is in Ruins of Wyveria at the fishing hole beside the Area 8: Gap in Rubble pop-up camp.
If you haven’t set up this camp just yet, use the MH Wilds map to set a waypoint in the southeastern area on level three and let your Seikret show you the way.
If you’re not having any luck landing a Gravid Bowfin in this location, there are other places you can cast your lure. Area 13: Oasis Campsite in the Windward Plains is one option, as is the river leading to Area 3 from the Scarlet Forest base camp.
How to catch the MH Wilds Gravid Bowfin
Gravid Bowfin are most active during the morning or evening in the Plenty season. Use the ‘Rest’ option in your campsite to create the perfect fishing conditions to catch one.
Emerald Jitterbait is essential to catch the Gravid Bowfin, which you can acquire after you complete the MH Wilds Goldenfish quest. Speak to Kanya at the fishing hole in the Scarlet Forest base camp to complete it. Speak to her again to unlock the Emerald Jitterbait and acquire the “Fishing For Flavor” side mission, which gives you extra rewards for catching a Gravid Bowfin.
Attach the Emerald Jitterbait to your line to ensure that a Gravid Bowfin will bite. To equip the Emerald Jitterbait, hold CTRL with your Fishing Rod equipped and use the mouse wheel to scroll through your bait.
The Emerald Jitterbait’s name is a clue in itself. You must ‘jitter’ the line by moving the lure back and forth to gain the Gravid Bowfin’s attention. If you keep it still, the Gravid Bowfin is unlikely to bite any time soon.
